Delhi’s top ends hotels are ranked as either Delhi Luxury Hotels, four star, five star deluxe by the Government of India Department of Tourism. The differences are marked by facilities, services, and of course price. The top-of-the-range Delhi Hotels are a world apart from rest of the city.
One expects claimed that these hotels receive much of their business from the wealthy Dilli-wallahs seeking to escape the poverty of their own city. Many of the best restaurants and most exclusive boutiques are at these establishments.
Northern Delhi
*Hotel Oberoi Maidens
Is in Civil Lines area North of Old Delhi. The building itself is a very pleasant colonial relic with a large garden and a swimming pool. Lutney’s the architect of New Delhi stayed at the hotel in 1930s’. The main disadvantage of staying at this Delhi hotel is that there are a couple of places to eat in the vicinity and it’s quite a haul through the traffic snarls of Old Delhi to get to Connaught Place.
Central Delhi
*Hotel Janpath
Is a large rambling 1950s’ Indian tourists Development corporation (ITDC) hotel that looks as if it has declining since the day it opened. Now really deserving two stars, its redeeming feature is its central position.
* The Ambassador
Near Khan Market is a short distance south of India Gate. This 1950’s hotel has undergone a renovation but its prices are still high. However, it’s got a central position and the rooms are large enough to accommodate all sought of travelers.
Southern Delhi

* Hyatt Regency
Is a five-star deluxe hotel in Delhi with 581 rooms. It’s worth trying for a lower rate especially if you are staying for a while. Facilities include fitness centre, swimming pool, restaurants, a bar, a 24-hr coffee shop, the nightclub and an elegant shopping arcade.
* Crown Plaza
Is a large modern hotel that boosts a superb atrium. There are several high class restaurants and all the mod cons you’d expect.
*Vasant Continental
Is a large modern hotel that is setting the standard in south-western Delhi.
The Airport

* The Radisson
Is a flashy new place just 3 kms from the international terminal. It has a complimentary service between hotel and airport. Even if you are not staying here it’s a nice place to relax coming from and getting to the airport. It has a bowling alley open from 11 am to 12:30 pm.
*Centaur Hotel
Is 2 km from the international terminal and 5 km from the domestic terminal. It’s a big hotel with 376 rooms, a refreshing pool, a health club and a Children’s park. With the bleak expanses all around its hardly paradise, and the roar of planes overheard at all hours certainly doesn’t add to the ambience, but it could be a place to stay for arrival or before arrival. There’s also a courtesy coach service to the airport and into Delhi.
